“All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”
Romans 3:23
all have Fallen short
Sin is falling short of God and of God's glory. You are a sinner if you do things that don’t match God or fall short of God's glory. How do you know if anything you have done in the past doesn't match God? According to Romans 3:23, everyone is a sinner, because “all have sinned and fall short.” There is not one person on this earth that has not sinned, not one person who has not fallen short! Think of the best person you know. According to this verse, they have sinned in their life and therefore have fallen short. So you also have sinned and fallen short!
the problem
“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 6:23
wages of sin is death
A person who sins is a sinner and earns death in the eyes of God. Isn’t that terrible that we get paid in death for sin? Wouldn’t you much rather not earn death? Wouldn’t you much rather have eternal life? The good news is that eternal life is available to you! In this same verse, it says that you don’t even need to earn eternal life! It is a free gift and it comes to you through Christ Jesus.
the solution — I
PART ONE — God's part
“But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8
cHRIST DIED!
The death that we earned through our sin was taken on by Jesus. Jesus did this for us because even while we were still sinners, God loved us.
the solution — II
PART two — Our Part
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through Him.”
John 3:16-17
Believing in Jesus!
Because God loved the world, He gave His only Son so that we wouldn’t die if we believe but have eternal life. This leads to the question: What does it mean to believe in Jesus? Or how does a person believe in Jesus?
HOW TO BELIEVE
“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth, one confesses and is saved. For the Scripture says, 'Everyone who believes in Him will not be put to shame.'”
Romans 10:9-11

BELIEVE IN YOUR HEART
